Pfizer’s Heart Attack

NEW YORK – Since Merck’s Vioxx was pulled from the market for increasing
the risk of heart attack and stroke in a long-term study, there has been
heated debate over whether other, similar medicines, such as Pfizer’s
Celebrex and Bextra, carry similar risks.

Pfizer issued a press release this morning saying that Celebrex also seems
to have increased the risk of heart attack and stroke in patients who had
taken the drug
